About the position

The Sydney School of Architecture, Design, and Planning stands as a global hub for intellectual and creative
research, attracting top-tier scholars from across Australia and beyond. Committed to fostering a sustainable
future for Sydney and the world, The University of Sydney now seeks an exceptional leader to become our next
Head of School and Dean of the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning. As the Head of School and
Dean, you will oversee and manage the School’s research activities, develop and implement strategies for
resource management, and foster an environment that attracts, develops, and retains top-tier academic talent.
Additionally, you will build and nurture relationships with key professional communities in Architecture, Design,
and Planning, ensuring our curriculum aligns with our mission, University policies, and external standards.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning. We seek a
visionary leader with a strong commitment to academic excellence and strategic growth who can inspire and
lead a diverse team. Your responsibilities will include leading and executing the academic and operational
vision for the school, developing financial strategies for sustainability, and promoting the University’s values in
relation to people and culture. By enhancing the student experience and fostering community engagement,
you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, excellence, and sustainability in one of the world’s leading
educational institutions.

Term and remuneration

The successful candidate will be offered a 5-year fixed-term position on a full-time basis, supported by a
continuing full-time position within the relevant discipline. The appointment is subject to completion of a
satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
