The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture invites applications and nominations for its 2025–27 Emerging Scholar in Design Fellowship. This prestigious, two-year fellowship, commencing August 15, 2025, offers promising individuals at the beginning of their academic careers in architecture and its allied fields the opportunity to develop a distinctive body of work and to provides a unique teaching experience in the context of a supportive academic environment. The school is seeking a candidate that is highly motivated and positioned to integrate their scholarly trajectory with their pedagogical agenda at particular, self-selected scales and modalities.
Qualifications
The scholar will teach two design studios and one elective or support course each year. Teaching responsibilities may involve both graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the school\’s intellectual life by engaging in critical theoretical or creative work, which they will develop during their time as the emerging scholar and present to the SOA community in the last semester of their appointment in a public format, such as a symposium and/or exhibition, and a work-in-progress presentation around the end of their first year.
