Job Description Summary

Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure-track) to teach foundation level Architecture and Interior Design related studio and support courses, advise students, and provide service to the department, division, and institution.

Job Description

The Department of Architecture and Interior Design at Miami University Oxford, OH seeks qualified applicants to join our award-winning faculty team. We seek individuals that value a collegial and collaborative environment, innovative thinking, interdisciplinary approaches, integration and advanced application of digital media and emerging technologies, and a commitment to teaching and curriculum development.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the second-year design studio which includes architecture students and interior design students.
  • A typical semester course load includes one (1) design studio and two (2) seminar/lecture format support courses.
  • The faculty member will contribute to the interrelated pre-professional BA Architecture and NAAB accredited Master of Architecture and the CIDA accredited Interior Design Program. The three degrees are offered by the Architecture and Interior Design Program (ARC+ID) within a studio-based culture of experiential learning in the College of Creative Arts (CCA).

We strive to provide students rigorous professional preparation within the context of a nationally recognized liberal arts university. Our students combine Miami University’s liberal arts foundation, arts disciplines, interdisciplinary course work, and studios to uniquely inform design processes, research, and project outcomes. Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree (Master of Architecture, MFA/MS/MA in Architecture or closely related field) by date of appointment.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a design portfolio demonstrating a minimum of five (5) years creative/professional experience; architectural professional license; a record of professional development; demonstrated interest or experience in studio and seminar-based design teaching and studio coordination; experience in digital design; demonstrated interest or experience in student recruitment; proven responsiveness to emerging technologies; commitment to human-centered work as well as socially and environmentally responsible design principles.
