The School of Architecture and Community Design (SACD) in USF’s College of Design, Art & Performance is seeking an innovator and collaborator in bridging and extending the discipline and practices of architecture.
Excellent designer-practitioners with expertise in architectural and urban histories, site planning and development, design computing, and/or building materials and systems are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate, in line with the performance expectations of an R1 AAU institution, will work toward the rank of professor, which entails maintaining an active record of research and/or reflective practice of high impact at the national or international level.
The tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Architecture is a nine-month, full-time position which contributes to the research, teaching, and service missions of the University of South Florida. The anticipated start date is August 2025.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish, document, and disseminate an original, coherent, and meaningful program of research and/or reflective practice.
- Impart knowledge and skills and stimulate students’ critical thinking and creative abilities through highly effective graduate and undergraduate teaching in studios, lectures, seminars, and directed studies (e.g. thesis).
- Provide public service that extends professional or discipline related contributions to university, local, state, national, and/or international communities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in architecture (M.Arch.) or comparable degree in related field.
- Professional practice experience in architecture.
- Teaching experience in architecture.
- Demonstrated commitment to research and/or reflective practice and promise of continued productivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Record of excellence in architectural practice.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Indication of interdisciplinary collaboration.
