The University of Idaho Architecture Department invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor based in Moscow.

Emphasis: Design + Technique

The primary focus of this search is for a candidate that is adept in the manipulation, deployment, and refinement of ecologically minded architectural assemblies. In addition to a core teaching role in our seamless professional degree program, the successful candidate will be prepared to disseminate high-level research in areas such as environmental building design, architectural design conceived as technical execution, and novel approaches to technical education.

The successful faculty candidate will communicate the power of effective design in their work, be able to discuss the intellectual investments of both their work and their design pedagogy and provide examples of innovative design teaching and research. Successful candidates will also be able to articulate a clear research agenda and demonstrate a commitment to producing peer reviewed work.

Responsibilities:

(1) Teaching design studios, required lecture courses, and seminars at undergraduate and graduate levels;

(2) producing peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative work, possibly critical architectural practice;

(3) performing service through program, college, and university committees as well as service beyond the university.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Architecture or equivalent terminal degree in a related field.
  • Experience communicating both verbally and in writing.
  • Teaching experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional registration
  • Post-professional degree
  • A record of research and/or practice
  • Ability to teach required course work in support of the professional degree (M.Arch).
