Illinois Institute of Technology

Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture is pleased to invite applications for two full-time, tenure-track appointments in Architectural Design and Technology, with appointments to begin in August 2025.

The term “technology” should be interpreted broadly here, as we are interested in individuals who can demonstrate compelling ideas about teaching and research in any of a variety of subjects, including—but not limited to—building structures and systems, digital processes, construction methods, material science, and tectonics; all as generators of inspired modern design. Strong candidates will indicate research and/or practice-driven expertise in the development and application of advanced technologies, but also the ability to explain them in a manner that motivates students and colleagues; we’re looking for great teachers and great communicators.

We’re also looking for people who want to be at Illinois Institute of Technology specifically and can tell us why. There are lots of places to teach. Why this one?

In addition to teaching, creative practice and/or research, and service, we expect faculty to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the College and the University through enthusiastic participation in student advising, design reviews, committee work, curricular development, contributions to College publications and events, interdisciplinary collaborations with faculty from other Colleges (such as the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering), and more.

Candidates should have a master’s degree (or international equivalents) in architecture, engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. and/or professional licensure are desirable, as is a meaningful record of professional practice and/or advanced research. More information about the College of Architecture can be found at www.arch.iit.edu.
