The Architecture and Facility Management Department invites applicants for a 9-month tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate professor level starting August 2025. The department is seeking colleagues who are disciplined, creative, collegial and who bring engagement and joy to the classroom. The successful applicant will hold a graduate degree in architecture or a closely related field and will have applicable work experience in architectural practice. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience. In addition to a background in practice, applicants should have a working knowledge of and commitment to sustainable design and sustainable systems. Preference will be given to candidates who show an interest in and aptitude for marketing an academic program through online advertising campaigns, social media, high school and community college visits, summer camps, or other appropriate channels. Applicants with specific expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: experience with service learning and/or community outreach projects; introductory design; structural systems; representation; Revit, Rhino, the Adobe Creative Suite, and/or other current software. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2025 at the earliest and January 2026 at the latest. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University’s campuses. The candidate(s) selected to the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Required: Master’s degree in field: acceptable options include an accredited M.Arch, or an accredited B.Arch degree plus post-professional master’s degree in a related field such as design, sustainability, or building systems. A minimum of three years of professional practice in architecture in the United States or Canada.
