Signal/Noise: Code and Craft in Architectural Drawing

This paper presents ongoing research into parametricallygenerated and robotically produced drawings.The work explores overlaps between proceduraldesign techniques, computer numerically controlled(CNC) machinery, conventions of architectural representation,and the craft of analog drawing. The workleverages technology to subvert its own biases forprecision and predictability, using computationaldesign and fabrication techniques to re-introduceerror in productive and measured ways that openup new and evocative aesthetic possibilities.
