This paper presents the research and applications of an undergraduate design studio that focused on the role of manufacturing in architecture. The studio situated itself between mass-production and mass-customization as a means of exploring digital design and digital fabrication techniques. The studio sought opportunities in the limitations of the manufacturing tools and processes as a means of rethinking the ideas of making and crafting.
