Landscape in Fragments: A Study of an Albianian Landscape Corridor from Shkoder to the Adriatic Sea

The Albanian landscape is fractured into paradoxicalparts. These fragments are palatable to the eyeduring the drive from the city of Shkodër to theAdriatic coast along Rruga Shkodër – Velipojë. Asone leaves the dense urban environment of Shkodërand crosses the confluence of the Drin and BojanaRiver the landscape opens up to a vast horizontalplain of agriculture. Behind is the city of Shkodër – aplace rapidly developing through what local scholarsand architects refer to as turbo urbanism. Ahead,the plain lies the agricultural ruins of the failedcommunist government.
