In the days of computational almost-perfect reproducibilitymarked by sophisticated tools, such as 3Dprinters, laser cutters, or CNCs being original andcreative involves reformulating tools and processesthemselves. Modified programming scripts or the useof unprecedented materials appropriated from otherindustrial applications become starting points for creativeexplorations and the separation from the knownand the obvious. This paper looks into new forms ofcultural and creative participations associated with currentmaker and hacker cultures empowered by socialelectronic media and crowdsourcing. It discusses theimpact of these new forms of collaboration on architectureand environment.
