The Department of Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for one full-time, Tenure-Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2025.

The department seeks highly motivated candidates who can address contemporary issues, have a well-developed teaching pedagogy, and a recognized record for combining design teaching with a progressive research agenda and/or creative activity. Applicants must demonstrate the potential to teach undergraduate students from a diversity of backgrounds at the crossroads of design, culture, and technology through foundational and advanced studios, large lecture courses, and seminars.

Candidates should demonstrate the potential for or evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship, including publications and external funding, and the commitment to developing innovative research initiatives that will contribute to CU Denver’s strategic vision. The Department is interested in applicants who are committed to engaging in teaching, research, and mentoring in diverse and inclusive settings.

Job Responsibilities

Assistant Professor positions engage in teaching, scholarly/creative work, and service. The percentages allocated are 40% teaching, 40% scholarly/creative work, and 20% service. The academic-year teaching load is two courses per semester.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in architecture or related fields (or international equivalent)
  • Evidence of foundational and advanced design studio teaching and lecture/seminar courses in the area of expertise
  • Evidence of research and/or creative work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional license in architecture
  • PhD in architecture or a related field
