Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative, faculty position as a tenured Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Construction Management with a preferred start date of July 2025. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

The KSU Department of Architecture is seeking an innovative, collaborative and experienced leader to foster its current strengths, reputation, and achievements and lead the department into the future.  Situated within the College of Architecture and Construction Management (CACM), the Chair of the Department of Architecture reports to the CACM Dean and partners with other College administrators to create a collaborative environment of academic excellence in the Department and College.

As a member of the College\’s administrative leadership team, the Chair of the Department of Architecture will oversee a dynamic and collaborative department with almost 40 full and part time faculty and more than 700 students.

Major responsibilities of the chair include:

  • Providing leadership, strategy, and vision for the department, in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and other college and university administrators.
  • Advancing the department in all components of its mission: education, research/creative activities, and community engagement.
  • Working with department faculty and college and university administrators to enhance the national prominence of the department, its faculty and students.
  • Supervising curriculum and teaching and overseeing department-level assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Providing stewardship of department fiscal resources and budgets in support of the strategic objectives of the department, college and university.
  • Strengthening interdisciplinary connections with other college/university units and disciplines, as well as connections with the professional community and other external stakeholders.
  • Increasing resources available for research and creative activities including interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Supporting faculty professional development including mentoring junior faculty.

The position will be primarily administrative service with teaching and research/creative activities opportunities. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications Include

  • A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in the Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Construction Management at KSU is required.
  • Demonstrated record of effective leadership.
  • Demonstrated record of national-level achievement in design, scholarship, research and/or professional practice.
  • Demonstrated record of exceptional teaching and mentoring.
  • Tenured at an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • An earned doctoral degree, or its foreign equivalent, in a design related field.
  • Professional licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in fiscal management, personnel management, faculty hiring and retention.
  • Demonstrated record of success is securing extramural funding for research, scholarship, creative activities, or professional activities.
